Platform Engineer - AI Engineering (AI)

Location: Chicago, United States

Salary: $130,000–$190,000 annual base salary, plus an annual discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Configure and manage multi-engine API gateways with dynamic routing, rate limits, and fallback logic for LLM requests.
• Integrate firm-wide AI tools into a centralized management plane so AI traffic is securely logged and governed.
• Manage AI services in enterprise cloud landing zones, including Azure OpenAI instances, model deployments, and API key generation.
• Write Go and Python code for the usage dashboard synchronization loop and automated progressive-friction mechanisms such as alerts.
• Partner with the Inference Infrastructure team to register and route self-hosted, on-premise models through AI gateways.

Requirements

• Strong backend programming experience with Go and/or Python.
• Hands-on experience with API design, integration, platform engineering, or cloud engineering.
• Familiarity with API gateways, proxy configuration, or distributed-system networking.
• Interest in the LLM ecosystem and the technical mechanics of AI tooling.
• Collaborative approach and experience writing clean, maintainable code.
• Ability to work from the Chicago location in the United States.
