TL;DR
Government Relations Manager (AI): Supporting state and local legislative and regulatory campaigns for solar-powered, AI-assisted traffic enforcement cameras with an accent on government relations, stakeholder engagement, and road safety policy. Focus on tracking legislation, building coalitions, coordinating lobbyists, and representing Obvio at hearings and community events across target states and cities.

Location: College Park, Maryland / Mid-Atlantic Region; travel to target states and cities as needed.

What you will do

  • Support state- and county-level legislative campaigns across multiple states.
  • Track legislative and regulatory developments and flag risks and opportunities to leadership.
  • Build relationships with local officials, staffers, coalition partners, advocates, and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinate day-to-day work with local lobbyists and government relations consultants.
  • Draft talking points, one-pagers, testimony, and briefing documents for meetings with officials.
  • Represent hirify.global at city council meetings, county hearings, and community events while maintaining campaign and relationship tracking.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in state or local government relations, public affairs, campaigns, or a related field.
  • Direct experience supporting or executing state or local legislative campaigns, including bill tracking, coalition support, or stakeholder outreach.
  • Strong understanding of state legislature and county or city government processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting materials for officials and representing an organization in external meetings.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple states, relationships, and timelines simultaneously.
  • Comfort working autonomously in a fast-moving startup and genuine interest in public and road safety policy.

Nice to have

  • Experience at a public affairs or government relations consulting firm.
  • Existing relationships with state legislators, county officials, or advocacy organizations.
  • Experience with polling, message testing, or public communications campaigns.
