Finance & Risk Director (The Idol) (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid role based in Penrith, United Kingdom, requiring time in the Penrith office several times per month

What you will do

• Shape business strategy as a member of the Board and Senior Leadership Team.
• Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, performance management, statutory reporting, treasury, tax, accounting operations, and financial controls.
• Evaluate commercial opportunities, strategic investments, product initiatives, and external partnerships.
• Develop risk and compliance frameworks covering strategic, operational, conduct, regulatory, financial crime, and data protection risks.
• Embed Consumer Duty, fair customer outcomes, and consideration of vulnerable customers into governance and decision-making.
• Lead Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Contracts functions while strengthening capability, succession, and accountability.

Requirements

• Qualified accountant with ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant senior leadership or Board-level Finance experience in a regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial management, corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Understanding of FCA regulation, Consumer Duty, conduct risk, and Board-level decision-making.
• Experience influencing strategy, supporting growth and transformation, and maintaining robust governance and controls.
• Ability to communicate complex financial, risk, and regulatory matters clearly to Boards, regulators, auditors, partners, and shareholders.
