Location: Hybrid role based in the Washington, D.C. or New York City offices, United States

What you will do

• Report and write news stories about cutting-edge science and activities at US science agencies.
• Write for the Nature website and print magazine.
• Travel locally for stories when appropriate.
• Cover assigned stories initially and develop the ability to pitch original story ideas.
• Write features as opportunities arise.

Requirements

• University degree in a relevant subject.
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong interest in writing for researchers, administrators, and decision makers.
• Full-time availability for the January–June 2027 internship.
• Ability to work from the Washington, D.C. or New York City office on a hybrid model.

Nice to have

• Background in science.
• Published science journalism articles.
• Completion of a science writing or journalism program.
