Editor, Healthcare Dive (Healthcare)

Location: Newton, Massachusetts, United States; based in the Newton office with in-person work three days a week or more

Salary: $70,000–$80,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Identify, edit, write, and report daily healthcare stories and features for Healthcare Dive.
• Cover insurers, hospitals, health IT, healthcare policy, digital transformation, hospital consolidation, and the Affordable Care Act exchanges.
• Elevate breaking news briefs, short-form stories, long-form trend pieces, and in-depth analysis.
• Plan and execute major editorial projects, including innovative storytelling formats and data visualization work.
• Cultivate sources, pitch stories, analyze earnings reports, and explain complex healthcare and economic developments.
• Assign and edit freelance work while collaborating with the editorial team and senior managing editor.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in journalism or a related field.
• At least one year of experience covering healthcare, health insurers, hospitals, digital health technology, or relevant life sciences industries.
• Proven editing, writing, and reporting experience across breaking news, briefs, and long-form stories.
• Strong deadline management, project management, trend analysis, and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to build source relationships, report on complex subjects, and collaborate on headlines, subject lines, story structure, and editorial strategy.
• Ability to work from the Newton, Massachusetts office three days a week or more.
