DevOps Engineer Intern - Summer 2027 (AI)

What you will do

• Deploy and operate containerized workloads on Kubernetes, including Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, and basic storage.
• Use GitOps workflows with Argo CD to reconcile desired state, troubleshoot synchronization and health issues, and propose changes through merge requests.
• Extend observability with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Alertmanager, starting in lower environments.
• Triage alerts end to end by validating signals, correlating recent changes, documenting findings, and escalating with evidence.
• Participate in platform upgrades and support service migrations from bare metal to Kubernetes under mentorship.
• Contribute to internal AI-assisted tooling with verification, secret and customer-data protection, guardrails, and human review.

Requirements

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Expected graduation by Summer 2028.
• Hands-on Linux fundamentals, including shell usage, processes, logs, permissions, and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of DNS, TCP/HTTP/S, ports, load balancing, and Kubernetes Ingress.
• Experience with Git workflows, Python automation and scripting, and reading YAML for Kubernetes and CI configurations.
• Interest in SRE/DevOps practices, reliability, least privilege, and operational documentation.

Nice to have

• Coursework or projects involving Kubernetes, Prometheus/Grafana, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, or AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Homelab or open-source contributions.
• Thoughtful use of AI coding assistants and interest in agent patterns, tools, guardrails, and human review.
