Test Technician

Location: Richmond, Canada; laboratory-based role

Salary: CAD 50,000–60,000 per year

What you will do

• Perform shipment testing and support verification and validation testing according to approved plans.
• Prepare test samples, fixtures, equipment, and test setups for engineering and shipment activities.
• Conduct routine standardized tests, document procedures and results, and maintain complete traceable test records.
• Investigate failures, identify abnormal results, troubleshoot test setup issues, and support corrective actions.
• Contribute to the development and optimization of testing protocols and analyze test data for product improvements.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test laboratory and test equipment.

Requirements

• Post-secondary degree in electrical, mechatronics, engineering, or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years of experience in a test technician role, including significant test laboratory experience.
• Comfort setting up and operating test equipment and tools, with the ability to follow detailed procedures accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, time management, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work for extended periods while sitting, standing, or typing.
• Ability to work safely around heat, cold, fumes, strong magnets, confined spaces, lasers, microwaves, and vacuum or pressure systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test equipment.
• Experience with root cause analysis, Microsoft Excel, or JMP.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of safety practices in laboratory or manufacturing environments.
