Manager, Data Architecture and Strategy (Hybrid)

Location: Westwood, Massachusetts, United States. Hybrid schedule with at least three days in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays; availability for up to five office days may be required. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire and emergency restoration assignments may be required.

Annual salary: $170,500–$189,440, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise data architecture design and the evolution of a scalable, secure, high-performing data platform.
• Establish and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling practices and enterprise data standards.
• Oversee data engineering teams delivering pipelines, transformations, integrations, and data quality controls.
• Drive the data platform roadmap, including performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and cost optimization.
• Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, engineers, and enterprise architects to translate business needs into data solutions.
• Lead architecture governance, risk mitigation, mentorship, and continuous improvement across data architecture practices.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in an IT-related field and 3+ years building, managing, and leading teams.
• Expertise in modern data architecture patterns, data modeling, integration patterns, governance, cataloging, classifications, compliance, and access control.
• Experience with at least one public cloud data platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and familiarity with analytics engines such as Databricks or Snowflake.
• Experience with data pipelines, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, observability, monitoring, alerting, data quality, and reliability frameworks.
• Intermediate proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark, and Scala, with strong presentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, services, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience; cloud certification is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Fivetran, Informatica, MuleSoft, Azure Purview, or Azure Data Factory.
• Databricks experience, a master’s degree, and Agile certification such as SAFe Agilist.
• Experience with the financial and regulatory environment of the utilities industry.
