Data Engineering, Senior Advisor (Python/SQL)

Location: Pomona, California, US; hybrid work mode with required residence in California. The role requires reporting to an SCE facility for a set number of days, includes remote work on remaining days, and involves up to 25% travel in the SCE service territory.

Salary: $182,800–$274,100 annually.

What you will do

• Design, build, manage, and scale ETL and data integration pipelines from internal and external sources.
• Develop data architecture, enterprise data lakes, warehouse schemas, data models, and transactional orchestration strategies.
• Process and analyze large, complex, and rapidly changing datasets using Palantir Foundry, Snowflake, SAP Datasphere, and related technologies.
• Improve streaming-data performance and optimize cluster runtime and cloud costs.
• Implement metadata management, data dictionaries, data mapping, validation, naming standards, and data governance practices.
• Build data-driven applications, visualizations, and Data-as-a-Service solutions while supporting data scientists with large-scale datasets for predictive and machine learning models.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or an equivalent STEM field.
• 10 or more years of experience processing large datasets, including hands-on data transformation, aggregation, and filtering.
• Experience with Python, SQL, APIs, and ETL pipelines; experience with Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar platforms is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-based data storage and architecture, including platforms such as Palantir Foundry, Snowflake, or AWS.
• Ability to implement data validation and metadata management and maintain consistency and accuracy across systems.
• Must work and reside in California unless otherwise noted; hybrid facility attendance and up to 25% field travel are required.

Nice to have

• Palantir Foundry Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, Certified Data Management Professional, SnowPro Advanced, or similar certification.
• Experience in the electric utility industry or infrastructure investment planning.
