Sr. Systems Engineer - Power Conversion

What you will do

• Translate customer needs into system requirements and practical design solutions with product management and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Design system architectures, functional block diagrams, data flows, and interfaces across hardware, firmware, software, digital applications, and cloud systems.
• Manage system-level requirements from definition through implementation and verification.
• Lead integration of mechanical, electrical, firmware, software, communications, and cloud components from prototype to production.
• Create and execute test plans to bring up, debug, and validate power conversion and inverter systems for performance, safety, and reliability.
• Analyze field and factory test data, investigate service anomalies, conduct FMEAs, and improve future products.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing complex electromechanical, power conversion, or energy systems, including at least 2 years in Systems Engineering.
• Experience across the full product lifecycle, from requirements and design through production, operation, and service.
• Experience working across hardware, firmware, software, or cloud systems in multidisciplinary environments.
• Experience with trade studies, lifecycle cost analysis, requirement and interface specifications, verification plans, and test plans.
• Advanced or fluent English required. Knowledge of grid-connected power-system standards, regulatory requirements, safety, reliability, and cybersecurity.

Nice to have

• Experience with requirements management tools, preferably Jama.
• Knowledge of Python, MATLAB/Simulink, and C for modeling, controls, firmware, and analysis.
• Experience with embedded firmware, real-time control systems, diagnostics, firmware updates, digital applications, APIs, or data platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud architecture, IoT platforms, device connectivity, time-series data, analytics, and remote monitoring.
• Knowledge of industrial communications such as Modbus, CAN, Ethernet, MQTT, IEC 61850, DNP3, or SunSpec, plus experience with solar energy systems.
