Advanced Packaging and Integration Process Mechanical Co-Op Student

What you will do

• Support the R&D process group in developing the Optical Circuit Switch through package assembly, integration, and sealing processes.
• Use design of experiments to study manufacturing-process factors and develop experimental plans.
• Improve and develop tools, jigs, and fixtures to increase product manufacturability.
• Analyze experimental data and evaluate the impact of process parameters on quality.
• Maintain organized experimental records, progress summaries, and standard documentation.
• Work in R&D laboratory and clean-room environments, collaborate with engineering teams, and present progress and results to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
• Third- or fourth-year student in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Nanotechnology Engineering, Engineering Physics, or another relevant engineering or science discipline.
• Mechanical design skills and experience with SolidWorks or SolidEdge 3D design tools.
• Experience designing mechanically, conducting and analyzing experiments, and solving problems.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and an understanding of industrial machinery troubleshooting.
• Eligibility to complete a background check is required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Python, computer vision, and AI.
• Experience with process improvement, automation, enhanced data collection, or R&D analysis tools.
