Mechanical Engineering Trainee (Manufacturing)

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; work includes office and project-site assignments, including remote sites, with travel required.

Salary: CAD 81,000–84,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Apply engineering principles and perform thermal and fluid-flow calculations for custom mechanical equipment.
• Design mechanical systems for proprietary smelting furnaces, including cooling, sealing, environmental control, tapping, and material-handling equipment.
• Prepare 3D models, engineering drawings, equipment specifications, reports, presentations, and other technical deliverables.
• Evaluate process alternatives, equipment and technology selections, and materials of construction.
• Collaborate with process, structural, and electrical engineers on design reviews, plant layouts, and process hazard studies.
• Support clients, construction teams, and vendors through field verification and fabrication assistance.

Requirements

• Must be graduating in 2027 or have recently graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Eligibility for registration as an EIT with a provincial engineering body after graduation.
• Knowledge of engineering and business fundamentals, with preferred coursework in solid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, control systems, machine design, structural dynamics, and numerical methods.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, work collaboratively, and maintain attention to detail.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites, including remote sites.
