Commissioning Intern (Summer 2027)

Location: Bloomfield, Connecticut, USA. On-site field position with weekly travel by car to project sites across New England.

What you will do

• Assist with building envelope evaluations and testing on existing buildings.
• Support construction-phase envelope testing, including window air and water tests, infrared imaging, blower door tests, adhesion tests, and fog tests.
• Assist with building envelope forensics, diagnostic testing, and construction inspections.
• Support energy audits focused on building envelopes.
• Write field reports and assist with commissioning plans and specifications.
• Participate in envelope commissioning meetings, plan reviews, and specification reviews.

Requirements

• Major or completed coursework in architecture, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with reading commercial construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Strong communication, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to write clear reports and emails.
• Proficiency with email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
• Valid driver's license and dependable automobile required for reimbursable travel.

Nice to have

• Prior experience with energy audits, blower door testing, or infrared imaging.
