Construction Intern

Location: Tampa, United States; onsite work on active construction job sites

What you will do

• Support project administration, field engineering, field supervision, and construction documentation.
• Interpret and coordinate construction drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, and as-built drawings.
• Assist with material procurement, subcontract scope reviews, project scheduling, quality management, and punch list maintenance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors and help acquire project closeout documentation.
• Use project management software and support shop drawing and submittal reviews.
• Help enforce OSHA and site-specific safety standards, including safety orientations and inspections.

Requirements

• Current college student pursuing a construction-related or relevant degree preferred; high school students with an interest in construction may also be considered.
• Fundamental understanding of project documents.
• Ability to learn under project management and field supervision staff, collaborate, follow direction, and proactively solve problems.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week and maintain consistent, timely attendance.
• Ability to work outdoors, move around active job sites, climb ladders and stairs, and move equipment weighing up to 50 lb.

Nice to have

• Previous internship experience with an architectural, engineering, or commercial construction company.
• Experience with Excel, Bluebeam, Revit, or comparable construction technologies.
