Senior Database Administrator (Azure)

Location: Remote. Travel: 1–20% within the US.

Salary: $90,000–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Lead database management across on-premises and cloud-based environments.
• Design and implement disaster recovery, failover, backup, and high-availability strategies.
• Perform advanced database performance tuning, resource optimization, capacity planning, and scalability improvements.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, vulnerability remediation, and technical debt reduction.
• Develop and maintain SQL procedures, views, scripts, and automation for production and reporting systems.
• Lead troubleshooting, stakeholder communication, strategic database planning, and cross-functional solution design.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of applicable experience and a required bachelor’s degree.
• Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills with experience managing relational and cloud databases.
• Expertise with UNIX/Linux systems, shell scripting, database automation, monitoring, and complex troubleshooting.
• Experience with performance tuning, disaster recovery, failover, restores, upgrades, patches, and vulnerability management.
• Ability to lead and mentor DBAs, prioritize work independently, communicate with senior leadership, and collaborate with engineers and architects.
• Ability to work remotely and travel 1–20% within the US.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Azure infrastructure and services.
• Experience with infrastructure design, agile development, product management, bug tracking, and project management.
• Experience with complex restore scenarios and database standards or change management.
