Senior Database Administrator (Oracle ExaCC / Exadata)

Location: Lisbon, Portugal — hybrid. Legal employment requires a valid Portuguese work permit or EU/Schengen nationality.

Salary: €1,900–€2,100 gross per month, including fixed and variable components, meal allowance, remote-work allowance, and benefits.

What you will do

• Administer and optimize Oracle databases in complex production environments.
• Improve CPU, storage, compression, query, indexing, and I/O efficiency across Exadata and ExaCC environments.
• Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, SQL, PL/SQL, TDE, Kerberos authentication, and Oracle Client upgrades.
• Perform root cause analysis for performance incidents and complex database issues.
• Guide development teams on database design, SQL coding, performance, and scalability best practices.
• Support auditing, compliance controls, backup and recovery optimization, and collaboration across infrastructure and project teams.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of hands-on Oracle database administration experience in production environments.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a comparable technical field.
• Strong expertise in Oracle performance tuning, resource optimization, compression, Exadata, RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, SQL, and PL/SQL.
• Experience with Linux and/or Unix, Windows, Oracle SQL Developer, and Toad for Oracle.
• English at C1 level, spoken and written.
• Valid work permit in Portugal or EU/Schengen nationality is required.

Nice to have

• Oracle ExaCC, Oracle ZFS, ZDLRA, and backup and recovery optimization experience.
• Knowledge of Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Azure Synapse, or DB2.
• Experience with Jenkins, UrbanCode Deploy, Qlik Replicate, Git, Bitbucket, ServiceNow, Jira, or DBeaver.
• OCP or equivalent certification and experience in regulated environments such as financial services.
• French or Dutch language skills.
