Database Engineer (SQL/Oracle)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska, United States; must work three days each week in the Omaha office

Salary: $114,380–$177,300 annually, plus a 10%–20% incentive opportunity

What you will do

• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, monitor, and maintain enterprise SQL Server, Oracle, and cloud database environments.
• Optimize database and application performance through query analysis, capacity planning, monitoring, and system tuning.
• Manage backups, restores, replication, disaster recovery, access controls, and database security.
• Develop automation for administration, monitoring, maintenance, deployments, backups, data refreshes, and operational reporting.
• Support database incidents, migrations, environment refreshes, testing, deployments, and root-cause resolution.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and document incidents, procedures, and technical knowledge.

Requirements

• 4+ years of database management and development experience, including data warehouse, architecture, and decision-support tools.
• High proficiency in database analysis, development, administration, stored procedures, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and SQL query optimization.
• Experience with SQL Server Integration Services, Data Transformation Services, materialized views, partitioning, multi-tenant databases, Always On Availability Groups, and Active Data Guard.
• Proficiency with Microsoft and Oracle database platforms and tools, including Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Server, Visual Studio, Oracle SQL Developer, and Oracle Data Integrator.
• Experience managing cloud databases on Azure or AWS and architecting complex databases for changing business requirements.
• Ability to work three days per week from the Omaha, Nebraska office and participate in 24x7 on-call support.

Nice to have

• Microsoft MCDBA, MCITP, MCSE Data Platform, or Azure Database Administrator Associate certification.
• Oracle Database Administrator certification at Associate, Professional, or Master level.
• Experience with SolarWinds SentryOne, DPA, Redgate tools, Snowflake, Qlik Replicate, PowerShell, and Python automation.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
