Foundational Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in San Francisco, CA; currently based in San Francisco and authorized to work in the United States

Base salary: $250,000–$300,000 USD annually, plus expected equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate core infrastructure, including APIs, LLM-powered workflows, web scraping systems, and large-scale knowledge graphs.
• Architect and maintain production systems handling millions of API requests across cloud and Linux environments.
• Own projects from ambiguous problem definition through deployment, iteration, and operation.
• Collaborate with executive and senior technical leadership on architecture, technical strategy, and roadmap decisions.
• Contribute to developer documentation, technical tutorials, internal tooling, and experimental builds.

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience and a strong record of shipping production code at scale.
• Hands-on experience with Linux servers in production environments.
• Experience with agent orchestration, LLMs, or web scraping.
• Experience designing or operating APIs, distributed systems, AWS or GCP infrastructure, or high-volume data pipelines.
• Ability to own ambiguous projects from architecture through deployment and iteration.
• Relevant degree from a well-regarded university and authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

• Background at a high-growth technology company or early-stage startup.
