Backend Software Engineer (AI)

Salary: $200,000–$275,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Own internal operational systems end to end, from ambiguous business problems through production deployment.
• Build a reliable internal data layer integrating CRM, product usage, billing, call recordings, support history, and third-party enrichment systems.
• Design and deploy unattended AI agent workflows for research, enrichment, drafting, summarization, data entry, and systems hygiene.
• Develop provisioning, onboarding, and account setup automation for enterprise customers.
• Build secure, compliant integrations that protect internal and customer data.
• Instrument systems and measure impact through hours returned, error rates, and cycle time.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping and operating production backend systems end to end.
• Strong TypeScript experience for backend services and APIs; proficiency in Java, Python, or another second language is beneficial.
• Production experience with GCP or an equivalent cloud stack, relational databases, SQL, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience building LLM-powered systems in production, including prompting, tool and function calling, retrieval, agent workflows, evaluations, and guardrails.
• Experience with third-party APIs, asynchronous patterns, observability, and autonomous delivery in fast-moving environments.
