EMT (Healthcare)

What you will do

• Provide EMS coverage for the horse racing community and respond to illness, injuries, trauma, and jockey falls.
• Assess patients, establish priorities, administer initial treatment, and stabilize patients until higher-level care is available.
• Communicate patient conditions and treatments to medical providers and coordinate care with PA/RN staff.
• Assist with extrication and transportation of sick or injured people to treatment centers.
• Conduct safety inspections, maintain medical equipment, restock supplies, and follow infection control procedures.
• Complete patient records, reports, and other required documentation.

Requirements

• Current, unencumbered EMT certification valid in the state where the work is performed.
• Current Basic Life Support certification with hands-on training from AHA, ARC, or an equivalent provider.
• At least three years of experience as an EMT with an ambulance or EMS service.
• Ability to work independently, assess situations quickly, and make decisions in a trauma-focused environment.
• Availability for morning training from 5:00 AM–11:00 AM, seven days a week, and afternoon racing coverage from 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, Thursday–Sunday.
