Patient Care Technician (Medical-Surgical)

What you will do

• Provide activities of daily living support and basic patient care under the direction of a nurse.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient environment and prepare rooms for admissions.
• Transport patients, assist with meals, and provide continuous observation as a patient sitter when assigned.
• Perform technical tasks including glucometer use, lift-assisted device operation, and specimen collection.
• Collect, record, and report patient data accurately and support admissions, transfers, discharges, and related clerical tasks.
• Work collaboratively with patients, families, nurses, and other members of the patient care team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to provide care for adult acute-care medical-surgical and intermediate-care patients.
• Availability for 24 hours per week on day/evening shifts, 7 a.m.–7 p.m., with every other weekend required.
• Holiday shifts are required according to unit needs.

Nice to have

• One year of healthcare or nursing service experience.
• Certification as a patient care technician, clinical associate, nursing assistant, or equivalent.
