Forward Deployed Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Full-time onsite, field-based role anchored to Sunnyvale, California HQ, with extensive nationwide travel. Candidates must be based in the United States.

Base salary: $130,000–$170,000 per year, depending on experience. Stock options are also offered.

What you will do

• Conduct site surveys and deployment engineering for autonomous machines and sensing infrastructure, covering connectivity, power, terrain, coverage, and escalation paths.
• Commission, configure, and integrate autonomous security technology with client networks, video management systems, access control, and security operations workflows.
• Partner with Mission Advisors during the sales cycle on technical scoping, site architecture, and deployment validation.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues in the field and own problems through resolution without handoffs.
• Document field learnings and communicate them to engineering, product, and operations to improve future deployments.
• Represent the company professionally on client property and in client-facing interactions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in a sales engineering or technical architecture role.
• Engineering degree or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical, computer, mechanical, mechatronics, robotics, or field systems engineering.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, and VPN, with the ability to debug connectivity issues in challenging field environments.
• Ability to work with hardware and software in the same day, including scripting, log analysis, diagnostics, and hands-on tool use.
• Client-facing composure and the ability to explain technical realities in plain language while bringing solutions.
• Willingness to travel extensively to client sites nationwide and be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• Experience deploying robotics or autonomous systems.
• Experience with physical security systems, including video management systems, access control, and sensors.
• Field service or deployment leadership experience.
• Experience supporting government or regulated environments.
