Procurement Specialist (Aerospace)

Location: Full-time hybrid role based in Menlo Park, California, United States

Salary: Up to $114,000 base salary annually, plus bonus, stock options, and benefits.

What you will do

• Procure technical components, materials, equipment, and services for R&D, prototype builds, testing, NPI, and manufacturing.
• Translate engineering requirements, program schedules, and budget inputs into sourcing and purchasing plans with Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, and Finance.
• Identify, evaluate, onboard, and manage suppliers; solicit quotations, analyze proposals, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, and issue purchase orders.
• Track supplier performance, delivery schedules, costs, procurement risks, and material shortages affecting development and production milestones.
• Develop alternate sourcing and long-lead material strategies for low-volume and prototype production.
• Maintain procurement records, support compliance, and improve workflows, cost controls, data accuracy, and supply chain resilience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain experience supporting R&D, prototype development, NPI, engineering development, or low-volume production.
• Experience procuring materials, components, equipment, and services; soliciting quotes; negotiating pricing and lead times; and issuing purchase orders.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and time-sensitive purchases in an ambiguous, fast-paced development environment.
• Proficiency with ERP, procurement, and inventory management systems, plus strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance and required ITAR authorizations.

Nice to have

• Experience with government-funded programs, FAR/DFARS flow-down requirements, classified programs, or secure supply chains.
• Knowledge of supplier quality management, obsolescence management, and supply chain risk mitigation.
• Experience procuring electronics, RF/radar hardware, test equipment, fabricated parts, or other complex hardware for aerospace, defense, or advanced technology.
