Principal Architect (Enterprise Architecture)

What you will do

• Shape architecture strategy, planning and roadmap development across a major university value stream.
• Develop architecture blueprints, future-state visions and transition plans for strategic change.
• Advise executive sponsors, business leaders, technology teams and delivery partners on architectural and strategic decisions.
• Provide architectural guidance across programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise principles, standards and roadmaps.
• Identify opportunities for simplification, reuse and continuous improvement while managing risks, dependencies and complexity.
• Support architecture governance and assurance, share insight on emerging technologies, and coach Business Service Architects and Business Analysts.

Requirements

• Significant experience in enterprise architecture, architecture leadership, technology strategy or a related discipline within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of business architecture, applications, data, integration, infrastructure and security.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders and providing evidence-based recommendations.
• Track record of developing architecture roadmaps, target states and transformation plans.
• Experience with architecture governance, assurance and design decision-making.
• Applicants must demonstrate the right to work in the UK; this role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• TOGAF, BCS Architecture or cloud architecture certifications.
• Experience with architecture modelling frameworks such as ArchiMate.
