Controls & Software Validation Lead

What you will do

• Capture, refine, and manage hardware and software requirements with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Produce certification-ready documentation covering functional specifications, safety logic, interlocks, and software testing.
• Develop and integrate PLC and ECU source code into released software modules.
• Develop and execute Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop test strategies and cases.
• Coordinate validation activities with engineers and technicians and resolve software, engineering, and test integration issues.
• Monitor system performance, manage data logging, and support delivery against programme schedules.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in software development, software validation, controls engineering, or requirements management.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience in multidisciplinary and regulated engineering environments.
• Practical experience with SIL and/or HIL testing environments.
• Ability to translate customer and engineering requirements into testable specifications and manage them through the full development lifecycle.
• Must be clearable and able to complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks; security clearance may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure DevOps, MATLAB, and Simulink.
• Knowledge of PLCs, ECUs, and embedded control systems.
• Familiarity with FMEA, HAZID, and HAZOP safety and risk assessment methods.
• Experience with certification and approval activities.
• Knowledge of alternative fuel, propulsion, marine, industrial, or energy systems.
