Software Developer (Defence and Security)

Location: Melbourn, United Kingdom; onsite at least four days a week. The role requires the ability to gain UK security clearance, which in practice requires sole UK nationality.

What you will do

• Develop high-quality, supportable software solutions for clients in the Defence and Security sector.
• Design software architectures and implement solutions using professional development workflows.
• Work across the full product lifecycle, from concept generation through product release and deployment into service.
• Develop applications for Windows, Mac, Linux, and mobile operating systems.
• Collaborate with clients and interdisciplinary teams across software, electronics, mechanical engineering, and applied science.
• Explain complex engineering concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Degree in software engineering or a related subject from a leading university.
• Professional experience developing software architectures and implementing designs.
• Proficiency in a broad range of programming languages, including Python, C, and C++.
• Experience with Git, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and common software development toolchains.
• Experience delivering software through the product lifecycle and into service.
• Ability to gain UK security clearance; in practice, this requires sole UK nationality.

Nice to have

• Experience with motion control, digital audio, software-defined radio, or high-speed networking.
• Experience working in Defence and Security environments.

Hiring process

• Initial call with a technology recruiter.
• Two competency or technical interviews, each lasting approximately 60 minutes.
• Final 60-minute meeting with a PA leader, including a mini case study and discussion of client-centricity.
