Senior Researcher (Information Architecture)

Location: Remote within the United States; associated location: McLean, VA

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 per year

What you will do

• Plan, conduct, analyze, synthesize, and communicate user research based on program goals and team needs.
• Contribute to long-term research strategy, prioritize research projects, and oversee research scope and recommendations.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with researchers, product teams, government stakeholders, and program management.
• Uphold and interpret VA.gov information architecture and design component standards.
• Evaluate navigation, content hierarchy, and IA structures for clarity, predictability, usability, and alignment with documented decisions.
• Mentor researchers, identify risks and systemic IA issues, and contribute to governance and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent relevant experience substituted for education.
• Prior experience mentoring junior-level team members.
• Extensive experience with research principles, methodologies, and relevant technologies.
• Strong understanding of adjacent disciplines and the impact of research on product, program, and business goals.
• Ability to navigate ambiguous environments and work with government, company, and program stakeholders.
