TL;DR
FPGA Design and Verification Engineer (FPGA): Designing, integrating, and validating complex FPGA modules for control, communications, and digital signal processing platforms with an accent on RTL development, VHDL-based verification, and system integration. Focus on developing simulation and hardware test tooling, defining verification strategies, and solving interface, timing, performance, and release-readiness challenges.

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite presence required with remote work available up to two days per week.

What you will do

  • Define FPGA architectures, module interfaces, specifications, and detailed designs in coordination with system engineers and PCB developers.
  • Develop RTL and FPGA hardware for control, communications, and digital signal processing platforms using custom logic and vendor IP cores.
  • Evaluate synthesis, place-and-route, timing constraints, power utilization, and other FPGA development lifecycle activities.
  • Develop and execute FPGA validation and verification strategies, test plans, simulations, emulation, and hardware tests.
  • Integrate component, sub-module, module, and system-level designs while coordinating dependencies between electrical systems and system software.
  • Document requirements, design decisions, test procedures, results, risks, and release-readiness evidence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least four years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FPGA engineering concepts, design, implementation, and verification.
  • Experience with VHDL and FPGA verification methodologies such as UVM or OSVVM; SystemVerilog is also relevant.
  • Experience with FPGA development and verification tools such as ModelSim, Questa Sim, Quartus, or Mentor CDC.
  • Experience with FPGA SoC architectures, including Avalon and AXI, embedded processors such as NIOS, and IP block integration.
  • Must be legally authorized to access controlled technology under United States export regulations before starting work.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or PhD.
  • Experience with Altera High Level Synthesis, MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW, Python, Git, Jira, and electronic laboratory equipment.
  • Knowledge of signal algorithms and experience developing product-specific test tooling.
