Health Information Specialist I - Entry Level - 8020

Location: Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, or Tennessee; ability to commute between locations as needed

What you will do

• Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies.
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure releases comply with HIPAA, authorizations, and applicable procedures.
• Manage patient health records, prepare charts, and assemble documents from paper and electronic health record sources.
• Create digital images of paperwork and store records in electronic medical record systems.
• Retrieve and transmit records to facilities and authorized external sources while meeting productivity expectations.
• Handle calls, walk-ins, faxes, mail, data entry, pickups, and other administrative duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work accurately with confidential medical information and comply with HIPAA standards.
• Ability to organize multiple tasks, work with minimal supervision, and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, commute between locations, and work overtime during peak periods when required.

• Experience building relationships with on-site clients and customers.
• Experience suggesting process improvements and sharing feedback with internal stakeholders.
