Azure Commercial Cloud Engineer (Azure)

Location: Fully remote within the United States

Salary: $190,000–$200,000 annually

What you will do

• Administer, design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable Azure Commercial Cloud infrastructure across compute, networking, storage, identity, and platform services.
• Build automated Azure landing zones, provisioning workflows, and standardized workspaces for rapid customer onboarding.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform, reusable modules, Azure DevOps, Git, and automated deployment pipelines.
• Configure Databricks workspaces, service principals, personas, access controls, catalogs, linked services, mount points, and integrations with the VHA Data Lake.
• Lead migrations from on-premises infrastructure to cloud solutions and coordinate data platform engineers, security teams, and analytics stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot provisioning, access, and workspace issues while documenting architectures, procedures, access models, and configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of experience in information technology, engineering, or a related field, or commensurate experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Expertise with Azure Commercial Cloud and experience with Databricks workspace administration, catalog creation, mount configuration, and cluster setup.
• Experience with Terraform or other cloud automation tools, Azure DevOps, Python, SQL, ETL, Spark SQL, Synapse, Azure Storage, and data lake architectures.
• Knowledge of IAM, service principals, RBAC, persona-based configurations, and Delta Lake or similar structured storage solutions.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust clearance and work remotely from the United States.

Nice to have

• Databricks Certified, Azure Data Engineer, or AZ-900 certification.
• Experience with AWS, ADF, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Logic Apps, SQL Server administration, Power BI, SharePoint, or database design.
• Experience supporting public-sector or healthcare data environments.
