What you will do
- Diagnose and repair brake and hydraulic, exhaust, fuel ignition, electrical, suspension, alignment, air conditioning, and computer systems.
- Perform general automotive maintenance and tire repairs to required specifications.
- Explain technical diagnoses and recommended repairs to non-technical customers.
- Assist with and train technicians and mechanics on technical activities.
- Maintain current automotive knowledge through paid formal training.
- Obtain or maintain A.S.E. certification in at least three A1–A8 areas within the first two years.
Requirements
- Valid automobile driver’s license required at all times, with the ability to drive customer and company vehicles.
- Demonstrated skill in brake and hydraulic systems and/or steering, suspension, and alignments.
- Experience with general automotive maintenance and tire repair.
- Current federal, state, and local certifications or licenses where applicable.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people, along with reading, writing, and math skills.
- Preferred: three years of automotive repair experience, vocational-technical training, or demonstrated skills through third-party assessments or certifications.
Nice to have
- A.S.E. certification in at least one A1–A8 area; L1 certification is acceptable.
