Director, Compliance Operations

What you will do

• Own the Life & Annuity compliance operating rhythm, including governance forums, reporting calendars, escalation paths, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Plan, execute, and report on monitoring and testing across suitability, best interest documentation, replacements and exchanges, disclosures, and advertising review workflows.
• Track remediation of control gaps and findings through documented closure while maintaining audit-ready evidence.
• Lead compliance integration for newly acquired and previously acquired business units, assessing practices against segment standards and establishing remediation milestones.
• Drive cross-functional compliance initiatives, procedures, and standard operating procedures through completion without direct authority over all participants.
• Identify automation and efficiency opportunities, including AI-assisted monitoring, reporting, and documentation workflows, while leading and developing the compliance operations team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, insurance, operations management, or a related field.
• 8–12 years of compliance experience, including substantial experience in compliance operations, monitoring and testing, or program management.
• Experience owning monitoring or testing programs, building executive and governance reporting, and driving cross-functional initiatives to closure.
• Experience integrating acquired businesses into an existing compliance operation and leading analysts or senior analysts.
• Strong analytical, data, organizational, written communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel and PowerPoint capabilities.

Nice to have

• SILA-F, AIRC, ACS, CCEP, or comparable compliance designation.
• Experience in a distribution, IMO, FMO, or agency environment.
• Experience with GRC platform reporting and workflow configuration.
• Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, or CAPM certification.
• Familiarity with life and annuity suitability, best-interest, and advertising review requirements.
