Associate Director of Agreements (Technology Transfer)

Location: Remote within approved U.S. locations; California residents are not eligible for remote work unless willing to relocate. Quarterly or business-needs travel to the Memphis campus is required, along with possible travel for interviews or orientation.

Salary: $125,840–$238,160 per year

What you will do

• Negotiate, draft, review, execute, and manage research, technology transfer, and industry engagement agreements.
• Manage licenses, options, MTAs, DTAs, NDAs, collaboration agreements, inter-institutional agreements, and consulting agreements.
• Partner with investigators, research administration, legal counsel, and external academic, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical organizations.
• Evaluate intellectual property commercialization and licensing opportunities, including commercial analyses, technology marketing, and partner outreach.
• Monitor executed agreements for compliance, milestones, reporting requirements, financial terms, and other contractual obligations.
• Support patent prosecution, invention disclosures, intellectual property strategy, investigator education, and continuous improvement of agreement workflows.

Requirements

• Must be based in an approved U.S. location for remote work; California residents are excluded from remote eligibility unless relocating.
• Must travel to the Memphis campus for interviews or orientation and work onsite in Memphis for one week per quarter or as business needs require.
• Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or business required; a Master's or JD in science, law, or business is preferred.
• Ten years of relevant industry or academic experience with a bachelor's degree, or eight years with a master's degree.
• Experience with research and technology transfer agreements, intellectual property, commercialization, research compliance, and complex stakeholder negotiations.
• Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and relationship management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with contract lifecycle management systems, technology transfer databases, or intellectual property management platforms.
• Experience supporting academic medical centers, research institutions, biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical organizations, or technology transfer offices.
• Registration to file and prosecute patents before the USPTO.
