TL;DR
Field Applications Engineer Analog & Power (Semiconductors): Leading customer power architecture, analog and power system integration, and hands-on validation for Renesas semiconductor solutions with an accent on power-tree design, component selection, and system-level debugging. Focus on designing power conversion systems, solving complex analog and power issues in the lab, and guiding customer designs from concept through production readiness.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; must be located in New England, with Boston preferred. Remote work is not available. The role supports customers in New England and Eastern Canada and requires approximately 10–20% travel.

Salary: USD 90,000–132,000 per year, plus potential bonus opportunities.

What you will do

  • Lead customer power architecture development, including power-tree design, device selection, sequencing, and system optimization.
  • Provide pre- and post-design support through schematic reviews, component selection, technical guidance, and issue resolution.
  • Perform design reviews, root-cause analysis, board bring-up, measurement, validation, and hands-on debugging of analog and power systems.
  • Drive evaluations and competitive positioning for PMICs, DC/DC converters, GaN and MOSFET products, LDOs, battery-management solutions, and signal-chain products.
  • Integrate power solutions with processors, memory, high-speed interfaces, and connectivity subsystems.
  • Deliver customer training, technical seminars, design workshops, and field feedback to product and business-unit teams.

Requirements

  • Must be located in New England; the Boston area is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in analog and power electronics in a customer-facing or design role.
  • Experience with power conversion, PMICs, buck/boost converters, LDOs, battery-powered systems, and analog signal chains.
  • Experience with system-level power architecture, schematic and PCB layout review, bench characterization, validation, thermal analysis, and power-integrity debugging.
  • Strong communication, customer-facing presentation, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

  • Deep experience with fuel gauging, battery charging and protection, amplifiers, data converters, sensors, filtering, stability, noise, and signal integrity.
  • Experience working with MCUs/MPUs, DDR, high-speed interfaces, connectivity platforms, and AI-related systems.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, transient-response measurements, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
