Senior Derivative Accountant (Fintech)

Location: Illinois-based positions require in-office collaboration 10+ days per month.

Annual base salary: $144,000–$175,000 USD for positions based in Illinois, excluding equity, bonuses, and commissions.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end derivative accounting across multiple client portfolios, covering swaps, FX forwards, options, and commodity derivatives.
• Prepare and review hedge documentation, designation memoranda, risk management objectives, and effectiveness testing under ASC 815 and IFRS 9.
• Perform prospective and retrospective quantitative and qualitative assessments, including regression analysis, dollar-offset, and hypothetical derivative methods.
• Prepare journal entries and financial statement disclosures and respond to client inquiries.
• Apply judgment to hedge accounting elections, fair value, cash flow, and net investment hedges, including de-designation scenarios.
• Lead audit support, engage with external auditors, and improve internal methodologies, templates, and technical guidance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience with derivative instruments and hedge accounting in public accounting, industry, or consulting.
• Deep technical knowledge of ASC 815 and IFRS 9, including hedge accounting elections and disclosure requirements.
• Experience with fair value measurement under ASC 820 and IFRS 13 and familiarity with derivative valuation methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple client engagements, meet tight deadlines, and communicate complex accounting conclusions clearly.
• CPA preferred; an advanced degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
• Experience with hedge accounting platforms such as hirify.global Treasury, Chatham Financial, Reval, or FIS Quantum is preferred.
