Control Room Operator (Waste-to-Energy)

What you will do

• Monitor and direct the operation of plant systems, including steam generation, condensate, feed water, turbine/generator, fuel handling, ash handling, electrical, fire protection, and air pollution control systems.
• Respond to alarms and abnormal conditions using normal, abnormal, and emergency operating procedures.
• Execute plant shutdown and startup procedures while maintaining safe, reliable, and environmentally efficient operation.
• Read meters, gauges, recorders, and annunciators; maintain logs and calculations; and report equipment malfunctions or dangerous trends.
• Conduct surveillance tests, monitor safety and emergency equipment, and optimize temperatures, pressures, flows, and levels.
• Train other operators on facility systems, components, and steam-cycle operating principles.

Requirements

• Valid Massachusetts Second Class Engineer’s License or higher required.
• Associate degree or equivalent technical training in power plant operations, along with basic computer, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to read blueprints, P&IDs, schematic specifications, and vendor technical manuals.
• Ability to work throughout the plant, including confined spaces, heights, hot and cold conditions, dust, noise, and wet areas; lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor.
• Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays with limited notice.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship; clean-shaven respirator compliance is required. Must possess or quickly obtain a Massachusetts 1C/2C Hoisting License.
