Software Engineer II (Stratus HLS AI/LLM Systems)

What you will do

• Build AI agent features using LLMs for code interpretation, completion, and generation within the Stratus HLS environment.
• Design and test agentic pipelines connecting Stratus tools and APIs with context-aware user guidance.
• Apply prompt engineering and contribute to retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, Skills, slash commands, and multi-step agent workflows.
• Evaluate LLM models and frameworks, instrument agent behavior, and track accuracy, latency, and user experience.
• Write and maintain tested C++ code, develop VS Code extension components in TypeScript and JavaScript, and resolve regression failures.
• Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, documentation, and collaboration with senior engineers and HLS domain experts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ or another compiled, statically typed language, including memory management and performance considerations.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, or machine learning workflows.
• Experience with LLM APIs, AI agent frameworks, or machine learning tools through academic, internship, or industry work.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, modular software design, separation of concerns, and testability.
• Ability to translate specifications into structured implementation plans, clear interfaces, and testable units.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI coding-agent Skills or slash commands, VS Code extensions, Language Server Protocol, or Debug Adapter Protocol.
• Exposure to EDA, HLS, hardware design workflows, RAG, vector databases, embedding pipelines, or LLM fine-tuning.
• Familiarity with Tcl, cloud ML inference infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure, and open-source AI/ML or developer-tooling contributions.
