Senior Safety & Compliance Engineer (Automation)

Location: Arden, Denmark; approximately 15–20 travel days per year for customer meetings, project activities, factory and site acceptance testing, and commissioning support.

What you will do

• Drive machine safety and compliance activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and design to commissioning and customer acceptance.
• Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, and develop safety concepts and Safety Requirement Specifications.
• Support design reviews, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities.
• Ensure compliance with European and international machinery safety standards.
• Act as the internal subject matter expert and advise Engineering, Project Management, Commissioning, Service, customers, and external stakeholders.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives in machine safety and compliance.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in machine safety, functional safety, or compliance engineering.
• Experience with CE marking, conformity assessment, EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849, IEC 62061, safety PLCs, safety architectures, and validation of safety-related control systems.
• Experience preparing technical documentation, declarations of conformity, technical files, and machinery lifecycle compliance documentation.
• Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence decisions and take ownership across complex projects.
• Experience with U.S. regulations and standards such as OSHA, NFPA 79, ANSI B11, UL standards, North American approvals, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction is highly desirable.

Nice to have

• TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, TÜV Machinery Safety Expert, CMSE, or similar certification.
• Knowledge of the EU Machinery Regulation (EU 2023/1230) and IEC 62443.
• Experience with automation, robotics, and material handling equipment.
