Risk Engineer (Renewable Energy)

Location: Ideally based in Copenhagen, Denmark; other RiskPoint offices may be considered, with hybrid work possible. Occasional travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings is required.

What you will do

• Conduct risk assessments for solar, wind, hydroelectric, battery storage, and other renewable energy projects.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to support successful project implementation and operation.
• Analyze project data, technical documents, hazards, trends, incidents, and claims-related technical aspects.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and risk management best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers, technical teams, suppliers, manufacturers, regulatory bodies, underwriters, claims teams, and loss adjusters.
• Prepare reports and presentations, deliver risk management training, and improve risk management practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or another relevant field.
• Preferably 3–5 years of engineering experience in renewable energy construction, design, or operations.
• Expertise and experience in renewable energy, ideally across multiple technologies, including onshore and offshore applications.
• Knowledge of hazard identification and risk management in the renewable energy industry.
• Knowledge of internationally recognized standards for design, loss prevention, and fire protection, including IEC 61400 for wind turbines and UL9540 for BESS.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to review and analyze complex data and documents.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset for working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Fluent spoken and written English is essential.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance risk engineering or claims.
• Knowledge of underwriting processes.
• Experience with additional renewable energy technologies and interest in expanding technical knowledge.
• Knowledge of other languages.
