Automation and Control System Specialist (Siemens PCS7)

Location: UK home-based role with frequent travel, mostly across the UK; Farnborough is the office location

What you will do

• Provide technical support, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting for industrial control systems, including Siemens PCS7.
• Configure and upgrade control systems through hardware upgrades, software patches, and control strategy improvements.
• Diagnose complex issues involving hardware, software, networks, and field instruments to minimize downtime.
• Assist with commissioning and start-up of new control systems, including installation, configuration, and integration.
• Train customers on system operation, maintenance practices, and safety protocols.
• Support operation and maintenance sites through the digital services execution team and participate in the call-out rota.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering, or a related field.
• Solid experience with industrial control systems, particularly Siemens PCS7 and TIA Portal.
• Hands-on experience with control system integration, HMI/SCADA systems, and field instrumentation.
• Proficiency in PLC/DCS control logic development and system design.
• Familiarity with Profibus, Modbus, OPC, and Ethernet/IP protocols.
• Strong knowledge of servers, database systems, and data historians; willingness to travel 60–80% and undertake international travel when required.
