ML Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote or office-based in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, or Ireland; remote work from other European locations may be supported subject to compliance and right-to-work checks.

Salary: Starts at EUR/GBP/CHF 120,000 base plus RSUs.

Synthesia develops an AI video platform for business and enterprise skill development, including interactive AI-avatar training experiences.

What you will do

• Build the AI engine behind interactive roleplay sessions with AI avatars.
• Develop models that interpret learner speech during roleplay exercises.
• Score learner performance and generate useful feedback in real time.
• Determine how the AI avatar should respond based on learner input.
• Apply machine learning to product problems across different products.
• Collaborate on production architecture and hands-on engineering solutions.

Requirements

• At least seven years of software engineering experience, including at least two years at senior level.
• Strong machine learning knowledge applied to real product problems.
• Product-focused software development experience; this is an applied ML role, not a research position.
• Experience working in a high-performing engineering team at scale.
• Pragmatic, action-oriented approach and comfort with fast iteration.
• Ability to work from the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, or another European location subject to compliance and right-to-work checks.
