26-27 Elementary School Social Worker

Location: Newark, New Jersey, USA

Salary: $65,000–$103,000 per year, based on experience and certification requirements.

What you will do

• Support special education and general education students in reaching their academic and social potential.
• Serve as a case manager for students with identified special needs and students referred to the Child Study Team.
• Communicate with parents and stakeholders throughout the IEP process.
• Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling to students and families.
• Apply behavior management and de-escalation techniques to maintain a safe school environment.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and monitor student progress with the school support team.

Requirements

• MSW or LCSW required.
• 1–2 years of experience counseling and working with adolescents and families.
• Knowledge of community social service resources and how to access them.
• Understanding of child study team rules, special education assessments, and program requirements.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to supporting students and engaging stakeholders in student goals.
