Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Security)

Location: Hybrid in Menlo Park, California, or Bellevue, Washington, United States

Salary: $200,000–$287,500 per year

Snowflake provides a cloud data platform and is developing security capabilities for its products across three major cloud providers.

What you will do

• Build software-defined security solutions and services protecting and governing more than 600 million assets across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Automate cloud security controls for IAM, detection and monitoring, configuration management, and data protection.
• Develop real-time security monitoring, logging, and alerting using Snowflake technologies.
• Define and maintain public-cloud security baselines, policies, and standards.
• Design and operate AI-augmented pipelines that ingest posture and telemetry data, score risk, and surface high-impact issues.
• Own security workstreams end to end while contributing through design reviews, mentorship, documentation, testing, and observability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent experience.
• Experience designing and owning secure, large-scale systems, including secure architecture principles and threat modeling.
• Software development experience with one or more of Java, C++, Go, or Python.
• Familiarity with distributed architectures and scalable APIs such as gRPC or REST.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a data-driven approach to scalable decision-making.

Nice to have

• Experience applying AI/ML to security detection, risk scoring, or prioritization.
• Experience building data pipelines for security operations.
• Proficiency writing, debugging, and optimizing SQL.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience designing concurrent, resilient services for high-demand, multi-cloud environments.
