Principal Software Development Engineer, Full Stack (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; employees may live in any of the 50 states, with limited exceptions.

Salary: $191,300–$305,700 annually in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC; $181,800–$290,400 annually in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia. The role is also eligible for equity awards.

What you will do

• Architect and drive end-to-end design of high-scale web applications and services across user interfaces, APIs, data stores, and cloud infrastructure.
• Set technical direction for multi-team initiatives and establish full-stack engineering, testing, and operational standards.
• Translate business objectives into engineering plans, technical roadmaps, foundational capabilities, and sequenced investments.
• Mentor senior and staff engineers and lead technical reviews, design forums, and architecture decisions.
• Resolve systemic challenges involving service boundaries, data models, integrations, and risk mitigation.
• Champion code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, incident response, and developer experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production web applications.
• Significant experience across both front-end and back-end components.
• Proven experience leading the technical design and delivery of complex, high-scale systems or platforms spanning multiple teams and services.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering practices in an agile, product-focused environment.
• Must work from the United States.
