Optician, Licensed – Sam’s Club (Optical Retail)

Location: Richmond, Virginia, United States; onsite at Sam’s Club

Salary: $29.00–$37.00 per hour, plus possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour

What you will do

• Provide member service, support purchasing decisions, resolve concerns, and promote optical products and services.
• Sell optical products and services, measure and adjust frames and lenses, repair eyewear, and complete eyewear and contact lens orders.
• Verify prescription information, collect payments for doctor services, and perform and record optometric pretest results.
• Receive, stock, organize, price, and maintain optical merchandise and displays while handling damaged goods, claims, returns, and shrink.
• Operate registers and related equipment to process purchases, payments, refunds, returns, and exchanges.
• Complete required paperwork, logs, forms, and documentation while following company procedures.

Requirements

• Maintain active state optician licensure and/or registration, including Optician in Charge status as required by state regulations.
• Maintain active ABO and NCLE certifications and meet continuing education requirements.
• Maintain an NPI number and required licensure.
• Be eligible and willing to sponsor Apprentice Optical Technicians as required by state regulations.
• Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent unless advanced education is required by state regulations.
• Preferred experience includes insurance processing, electronic health records, and optical, healthcare, or retail operations.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in opticianry, healthcare, or a related field.
• Three years of optical service experience or four years of healthcare, optical services, or retail operations experience.
• Experience with insurance processing and electronic health records.
