Maintenance Control Technician (Airport Automation): Maintaining, troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing electrical and automated control systems for airport ground-support and baggage-handling equipment with an accent on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and industrial communication networks. Focus on diagnosing control-system failures, performing preventive maintenance, and minimizing downtime in active airport and industrial environments.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States; onsite work at PHX Airport with outdoor field work on active airport ramps and in baggage-handling areas.

What you will do

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, test, and operate electrical and automated control systems.
  • Diagnose PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, relays, contactors, motor controls, communication devices, and related electrical components.
  • Monitor alarms, equipment status, and performance trends to resolve faults and prevent system failures.
  • Support automated airport, baggage-handling, conveyor, and material-handling equipment.
  • Read schematics and technical documentation, adjust approved system parameters, and verify equipment operation after repairs.
  • Maintain service and inventory records and coordinate with maintenance, operations, engineering, customers, vendors, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles daily.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of electrical and automated control systems, including PLC programming, electrical design, HMI design and programming, and PLC/HMI troubleshooting.
  • Ability to use laptops, multimeters, hand tools, calibration equipment, and electrical diagnostic tools.
  • Availability for on-call work, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work outdoors, near moving vehicles and aircraft, energized equipment, conveyors, loud noise, changing weather, and confined spaces; lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Nice to have

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, or installing industrial electrical, automation, or control systems.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, industrial automation, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, industrial communication networks, control-system architecture, and automated material-handling systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
