Senior Trim & Lighting Engineer (Automotive)

What you will do

• Serve as the Trim & Lighting engineering point of contact across body engineering, suppliers, validation, and internal engineering teams.
• Design and release attachment and mounting interfaces for interior, exterior, seating, and lighting components using CATIA V6.
• Drive multiple suppliers in parallel while managing design, cost, tooling impact, and program timelines.
• Maximize component and part-number carryover while developing solutions that minimize changes to existing tooling.
• Translate body and structural changes into trim, seating, and lighting attachment requirements, and lead cross-functional consensus.
• Release parts and assemblies in 3DEXPERIENCE, maintain technical documentation, and support validation through DFMEAs and DVP&Rs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 7+ years, or a PhD with 3+ years.
• Deep experience in automotive interior or exterior trim, seating, or lighting engineering, including at least one complete design-to-launch cycle at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, fastening and joining methods, Design for Manufacturing, and attachment/interface design.
• Proficiency in CATIA V6, CATIA V5, or an equivalent 3D modeling system, plus experience with PLM and 3DEXPERIENCE/3DX release and change management.
• Experience managing technical suppliers, project timelines, cost decisions, validation processes, DVP&Rs, and DFMEAs.
• Ability to work independently on ambiguous technical problems and lead a small team of 2–3 engineers and cross-team projects.
