Design Group Manager – Upper Structures (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Warren, Michigan; on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.

What you will do

• Manage a large group of Engineering Designers and DLTs responsible for design deliverables supporting vehicle projects and programs.
• Provide technical leadership and guide teams toward successful execution of vehicle programs.
• Staff the work team, assign priorities, manage workloads, and remove delivery roadblocks.
• Lead communication, mandatory training, career development, and initiatives that improve team capability and capacity.
• Review deliverables, work schedules, overtime, expenses, and other work-related records.
• Evaluate performance, provide feedback, recognize contributions, and participate in compensation planning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology.
• 8+ years of design experience, including leadership experience.
• Experience in product development and design/release activities.
• Strong knowledge of engineering systems and processes, including GxDP, GSTS, VIS Mock-up, GPDS, engineering release systems, GD&T, specifications, Global BOM, product, and program content.
• Strong engineering and design principles, with the ability to propose technical alternatives and balance competing priorities.
• Experience leading teams, mentoring employees, and working with administrative and engineering tools across functional groups.

Nice to have

• Experience in body structures or closures.
• Experience using NX and Teamcenter.
• Experience in design/release engineering.
• Knowledge of hirify.global policies and procedures.
