Associate Medical Director - Post Acute Care

Location: Virtual full-time work is available, except for required in-person training. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance of the posting locations in California, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, or Washington. Schedule: 11:00 AM–8:00 PM CT, with one weekend coverage shift per month. Part-time options require at least one weekend day per week.

Salary: $179,503–$307,732 per year. Sign-on bonus: $10,000.

What you will do

• Support medical management staff by ensuring timely and consistent medical decisions for members and providers.
• Complete clinical case reviews within the applicable board-certified specialty.
• Conduct physician-to-physician calls to gather information for medical necessity determinations.
• Make medical necessity determinations for specialty-specific grievances and appeals.
• Apply medical policies consistently and escalate cases requiring Medical Director review or policy interpretation.

Requirements

• MD or DO degree required.
• Board certification from an applicable American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association board required.
• Active, unrestricted medical license to practice medicine or a health profession required.
• At least 3 years of clinical experience after residency.
• Ability to work within reasonable commuting distance of the listed posting locations and attend required in-person training.

Nice to have

• Clinical experience in inpatient post-acute care.
• Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
