Managing Director, Ocean Marine Underwriting (Insurance)

Location: Alpharetta, Georgia, United States

Annual base salary: $153,700–$253,700, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentives.

What you will do

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention for ocean marine business within the assigned location or region.
• Partner with the Regional Vice President to develop and implement business strategies.
• Manage relationships and local strategies involving brokers and agencies.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex, high-risk, and difficult-to-close deals.
• Build internal and external partnerships to develop sales and cross-selling opportunities.
• Lead, coach, train, and manage the performance of the underwriting team; regularly meet agents and brokers in person and travel to meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least six years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Eight to ten years of relevant underwriting experience, including commercial lines experience.
• Experience leading or managing others and managing a field location.
• Expert knowledge of ocean marine products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• CPCU designation, strong critical-thinking skills, and excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
